LexisNexis

Rosen Shingle Creek recently hosted LexisNexis, whose more than 1,000 attendees participated in a large-scale CSR event on Tuesday, Feb. 8 to make 1,085 items for eight Orlando area charities. Sales associates at Rosen Shingle Creek worked with the LexisNexis team to identify local charities. This is the second time the group has participated in such an activity during their convention in Orlando.

“The insight into the Orlando community which Rosen Hotels provides is invaluable,” said Sherri Morgan, Community Relations Manager for LexisNexis Cares. “Our corporate charitable event was so much more impactful to both the employees and the local community because of their assistance.”

Among the 1,085 items that LexisNexis associates assembled were 105 park benches and rocking chairs, as well as 105 bookcases for the Salvation Army, Orange County Schools and the Boys and Girls Club of Orlando. Attendees put together 210 camp packs for students in need at Tangelo Park Elementary School and 140 military packs for members of the U.S. Army, which included essentials such as socks, toiletries, books and games. They also stuffed 175 bears to be given to children in crisis by first responders at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and created 70 knot blankets to be distributed to needy students at Tangelo Park Elementary and by the Salvation Army and Project Linus. Attendees also built 70 beehives to be used by the OrangeBlossom Beekeepers Association for environmental education and assembled 70 bicycles for the Boys and Girls Club of Orlando.

“Coming together as a corporate team to build these bicycles, benches, bookcases and other items for those in need has become the highlight of our conference,” said Morgan. “When it comes to stuffing a teddy bear or making a warm blanket to provide comfort for a child, it doesn’t matter if you’re the CEO or an administrative assistant — it’s something we can all do and all feel good about, but sadly, it’s something we aren’t always able to make time for in our home communities. Our associates really appreciate having the event organized and in place for them to simply come in and give of their time.”
